Training Program: Gas Service  Gas Troubleshooting
Objective:
To provide participants the skills and knowledge to service gas appliances and solve problems.

Training Description:
• Understand gas appliance design: direct vent, b-vent, vent free
• Develop a comprehensive knowledge of millivolt systems, gas control valves, thermocouple and thermopile operation, snap disks, safety devices, blower systems, remote and thermostat operation
• Develop a comprehensive knowledge of electronic ignition systems, gas control valves, ignition systems, flame rectification, electric and battery operated systems
• Learn to use diagnostic tools: multimeter, gas leak detection equipment and manometer (hands-on activities)
• Learn to read gas appliance wiring diagrams (examples provided)
• Hands-on troubleshooting of gas components and appliance operation using a troubleshooting flow chart (flow chart provided)
• Develop an understanding of restrictor adjustments and ember placement
• Understand gas venting principles and guidelines
• Learn about gas appliance maintenance that needs performed on an annual basis
• Receive an annual maintenance check list
• Understand how to size gas lines (template provided)
• Develop a troubleshooting mind set with regard to gas appliances (template provided)
